HC Deb 16 July 1953 vol 517 cc2243-4
43. Mr. Blenkinsop

asked the Minister of Health whether he will abolish the 1s. prescription charge, in view of the recommendation of the British Medical Association annual meeting.

Mr. Iain Macleod

No, Sir.

Mr. Blenkinsop

Is not the right hon. Gentleman willing to take into account the representations of a body of people who are, perhaps, best qualified to offer an opinion, and, in addition, the view of a body like the Trades Union Congress, who have made similar representations?

Mr. Macleod

I am delighted to take it into account and I have studied what was said, but it has not altered my view that no change should be made at present.
