HC Deb 16 July 1953 vol 517 c2244
44. Dr. Jeger

asked the Minister of Health what action he proposes to take with regard to existing and future contracts with the Medical Supply Association, Limited, in view of the fact that this firm is no longer complying with the fair wages clause 1946.

52. Mr. K. Robinson

asked the Minister of Health whether he is satisfied that the Medical Supply Association, Park Royal, N.W.10, with which his Department is in contractual relations, is observing the fair wages clause, in view of the circumstances of which he is aware.

Mr. Iain Macleod

It has been represented to me that this contractor is not complying with the fair wages clause in current contracts, and the matter is being investigated.

Mr. Awbery

Is there not an obligation on the Government and local authorities to withdraw contracts when it is proved that the fair wages clause is not being carried out?

Mr. Macleod

For the moment no further contracts are being placed with this firm, but this matter, as the reply to an earlier Question indicated, is being investigated by the Minister of Labour, and I wish to await the outcome of that.
