§ The Chairman of Ways and Means (Sir Charles MacAndrew)As this procedure is not often employed I should perhaps explain to the House that since this Bill passed the Committee stage, the Royal Assent has been given to a consolidation measure, the Births and Deaths Registration Act, 1953, which replaces the Births and Deaths Registration Acts, 1836–1947.
It is, therefore, desirable that the Foundling Hospital Bill should make reference to the present General Act and the Amendments put forward by the promoters only do this.
Verbal Amendments made to the Bill.
Bill read the Third time, and passed, with Amendments.
