§ 51. Sir J. Lucasasked the First Lord of the Admiralty what facilities were provided by his Department for ships operated by British Railways undertaking a cruise to witness the Naval Review.
§ Mr. J. P. L. ThomasBerths in the Review area were allocated to all British Railways' steamers for which applications were received. Steamers were at liberty to cruise through the lines of the Fleet 397 before taking up their berths and again between 6 and 8 p.m. on the evening of the Review Day.
§ Sir J. LucasIs the Minister aware that British Railways charged £2 for a cruise which could not take place, except in words and not in the spirit? Will he not convey to the British Railways authorities that a suitable refund should be made?
§ Mr. ThomasIt is not a question for the Admiralty or for the Minister of Transport. It is one for British Railways with whom my hon. Friend can take up the question direct.
