Mr. Dribergasked the First Lord of the Admiralty how far officers and men of the Royal Navy, on duty in London on Coronation day have been required to replace, at their own expense, uniform and equipment damaged by rain; and if, in view of the special nature of the occasion and the severity of the weather, he will consider making good such damage at the public expense.
§ Mr. J. P. L. ThomasInquiries were put in hand at once about the damage done to the uniform and equipment of the Coronation naval contingent. The payment of compensation to officers and ratings in the processional and street-lining units who are not insured or otherwise covered in respect of such damage, is under sympathetic consideration.
