asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies the results of the inquiry into the causes of the riot at Kano which resulted in the loss of 46 lives.

Mr. Lyttelton

The administrative inquiry into the Kano riots is nearing completion and I hope to receive its report in the near future.

Mr. Brockway

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that statements are being made that the administration of the Native Authority are taking evidence from door-to-door in this matter, and that that evidence is very often of a very unreliable character?

Mr. Lyttelton

I am not aware of that. Until the report is received it would be as well not to make allegations.
