HC Deb 22 January 1953 vol 510 c384
15. Sir G. Lloyd

asked the Minister of Health whether he will send a productivity team to visit United States hospitals to study the techniques and costs of hospital administration and equipment.

Mr. Iain Macleod

There is already a constant interchange of information and visits to study particular aspects of hospital work between this country and the United States, and I hope that this will continue.

Sir G. Lloyd

Is my right hon. Friend aware that I find his answer a little disappointing and that other people will share that disappointment?

Mr. Macleod

No, Sir, I do not agree that the answer is disappointing. I think that these visits, sponsored, as they are, by a wide variety of bodies, are the best method of getting the proper interchange of information.

Mr. Blenkinsop

Would the right hon. Gentleman agree that in this field perhaps we have got more to teach the Americans than they have to teach us?

Mr. Macleod

That may well be so.
