§ 16. Mr. T. Reidasked the Minister of Health if he will earmark in 1953–54 the small sum required to acquire the site approved by his Department for the new hospital at Swindon also approved by his Department, but temporarily postponed owing to the present policy of restricting capital investment.
§ Mr. Iain MacleodI do not expect any difficulty in providing the money necessary to acquire land for the new hospital.
§ Mr. ReidMay I thank the right hon. Gentleman, and ask if he will go a bit further and provide the small funds needed to enable the architects to finish their design of the new hospital?
§ Mr. MacleodI think that goes quite a bit beyond this point. I cannot give a guarantee when building can start, but I hope that we can earmark the land almost at once.
