§ 36. Mr. Hamiltonasked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many school kitchens have been closed in the last year; and for what purposes the cooking equipment from those kitchens is to be used.
§ Mr. Henderson StewartDuring the 12 months ended 30th September, 1952, 15 school meals kitchens have been closed. Two more will shortly be closed. Some of these kitchens, with their equipment, are being maintained for Civil Defence Emergency Feeding purposes. In the others, the equipment is being maintained, until the prospective demand for school meals can be more clearly seen.
§ Mr. HamiltonCan the hon. Gentleman say whether he has been approached by any of the hospital authorities which could make good use of this equipment, and, if such representations have been made, would he indicate what is the reaction of the Minister to them?
§ Mr. StewartI am not aware of such approaches, although they may well have been made, but I will inquire into them and inform the hon. Gentleman.
