HC Deb 17 March 1952 vol 497 cc1914-5
62. Colonel L. E. Crosthwaite-Eyre

asked the Minister of Transport what information, and from what bodies, he has seen fit to place at the disposal of the Transport Tribunal under Section 22 (2) of the Railways Act, 1921.

Mr. Maclay

None, Sir. There was nothing that I could add to the very full presentation of the case for and against the scheme by the Commission and the objectors. It was, of course, for the Tribunal and not for me to decide the issues.

Colonel Crosthwaite-Eyre

Is the Minister aware that under this Section he has power to see that very many bodies, including such organisations as the National Union of Ratepayers' Associations, who have not been received by the Transport Tribunal, have their case presented, if he thinks fit? Will he look at this point again?

Mr. Maclay

A very large number of bodies were seen between the time the Tribunal started sitting and the time it concluded, towards the end of November. Of course, I will bear in mind what my hon. and gallant Friend says for any future proceedings.
