HC Deb 10 July 1952 vol 503 cc1497-8
15. Mr. F. Willey

asked the President of the Board of Trade what progress has been made in the trade negotiations with the Argentine Government.

Mr. P. Thorneycroft

There have been further exchanges of view, but there has inevitably been delay in making progress during President Peron's inauguration of his second term of office and as a result of ministerial changes in the Argentine Government. I expect further meetings to take place shortly.

Mr. Willey

While sympathising with the right hon. Gentleman in his difficulties, may I ask if he will now do his utmost to get negotiations going, because the meat being supplied under the protocol has now been shipped?

Mr. Osborne

May I ask whether the delay in negotiations with the Argentine this year is greater than last year?

Mr. Lewis

Is the Minister aware that the difference between last year and now is that the present Opposition are not now continually nagging as the then Opposition were last year?
