HC Deb 15 December 1952 vol 509 c949
15. Miss Ward

asked the Minister of Food to ensure that ewe liver is not charged at the same price, per pound, as high-grade liver.

Major Lloyd George

It is not practicable to distinguish ewe liver from other types of mutton and lamb liver or to have separate prices for each type.

Miss Ward

As ewe liver is not nearly of such good quality as other liver, would my right hon. and gallant Friend discuss with the trade whether or not they could inform the butchers that it is not fair to charge the higher price for the lower grade liver? This is a most important question for the housewife.

Major Lloyd George

I am informed that it is impracticable to distinguish between the different grades of liver; but pig and ox liver are charged at different prices.
