HC Deb 01 December 1952 vol 508 c1089
24. Mr. Lewis

asked the Minister of Food if he is aware that since controls were lifted, between November, 1951, and the middle of May, 1952, prices rose by 19 per cent. in the case of semolina, biscuits 8 per cent. and cocoa by 4 per cent.; and whether, in view of these figures, he will re-introduce price control on these articles.

The Minister of Food (Major Lloyd George)

As the greater part of the increases in price in the period referred to took place before the commodities were de-controlled, the answer to both parts of the Question is in the negative.
