HC Deb 07 April 1952 vol 498 cc2258-9
4. Dr. Reginald Bennett

asked the Minister of Food what measures he is preparing for the extension of the provisions of the Food and Drugs Act, with especial reference to hygiene in the preparation of food and in utensils and premises employed for this; how far advanced the preparations are for these measures; and when he hopes to be able to bring them before Parliament.

Major Lloyd George

Much of the preparatory work has been done; but as I informed the hon. Member for Batley and Morley (Dr. Broughton) on 17th March, it is not likely to be possible to introduce legislation during the present Session.

Dr. Bennett

Can my right hon. and gallant Friend say whether this legislation, which not only would be of benefit to the thirsty gentlemen referred to in the next Question, but to every person in this country, is being kept off the Parliamentary programme by the time wasting and filibustering of the Opposition at present?
