HC Deb 27 November 1951 vol 494 c1094
6. Mr. G. R. Mitchison

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government when he will make a special extra allocation of houses to the Kettering Rural District Council in order to enable them to rehouse the occupants of the temporary huts erected during the war near the Grafton Park aerodrome.

Mr. H. Macmillan

While I am always ready to grant additional allocations in accordance with progress made, I am not convinced that this is the right course at the present time to meet this special problem. Some of the occupants of these huts have been rehoused with the help of neighbouring authorities and further help is promised.

Mr. Mitchison

is the Minister aware that these huts were built as temporary huts during the war and are rapidly falling to pieces? Will he say what steps he proposes to take to get the inhabitants of them rehoused?

Mr. Macmillan

The steps that I have described have already dealt with some and I hope will be able to deal with the rest.
