HC Deb 21 November 1951 vol 494 cc368-9
6. Mr. Adams

asked the Assistant Postmaster-General what arrangements exist to enable a current telephone subscriber to take over another existing line upon removal to a new address.

Mr. Gammans

A removing subscriber is normally allowed to take over an existing line at his new address; the only exceptions are where waiting applicants in the immediate locality have stronger claims to the use of the line. If the hon. Member has in mind any particular case of difficulty, I shall be glad to make inquiry.

Mr. Adams

While thanking the hon. Gentleman for that reply, may I ask whether he is aware I have already sent him details of a constituent precisely in the position I have described?

Mr. Gammans

The hon. Member will have a reply.
