HC Deb 29 May 1951 vol 488 cc32-3
68. Sir H. Williams

asked the President of the Board of Trade when the Bill will be presented to Parliament to authorise the provision of £15 million to finance the United Kingdom's share of the wool reserve price plan announced on 21st May by the Commerce Minister of Australia.

Mr. Bottomley

Proposals for a reserve price scheme on which provisional agreement has been reached will be the subject of a referendum among the wool growers in Australia. The Australian Government have, I understand, decided to support the proposals if the result of the referendum is in favour of the scheme. I cannot yet say whether, and if so when, legislation will be introduced into Parliament.
