HC Deb 01 May 1951 vol 487 c995
37. Mr. Watkinson

asked the Minister of Local Government and Planning if he will take steps to simplify the procedure necessary to obtain authority for the erection of industrial buildings.

Mr. Dalton

I made some simplifications last year. If the hon. Member has any further suggestions about industrial buildings, I shall be glad to consider them.

Mr. Watkinson

May I ask the right hon. Gentleman if it is not the fact at the moment that in the case of larger industrial buildings, applications for planning permission have to go through 12 different clearances, and that if that number could be reduced, it would be helpful?

Mr. Dalton

If the hon. Member will look at the 1950 General Development Order, he will see that I made considerable simplifications there which cut out a lot of these stages.
