§ 42. Mr. Walter Fletcherasked the Secretary of State for War if, in the light of experience in the Korean war, steps are being taken to improve the types of automatic weapons issued to our troops.
§ Mr. StracheyThe automatic weapons which are being used in Korea are, for the most part, of the same basic types as those which served us well in the last war. Several types of more recent design, however, which offer promise of improved performance, are under trial.
§ Mr. FletcherIs the Minister satisfied that the weapons supplied to our troops are fully equal to those supplied to other people fighting there?
§ Mr. StracheyI do not think we have any reason to be ashamed of our small arms. They are very effective weapons.
