Smithersasked the Minister of Agriculture how many of the technical staff of his Department and of the organisations associated with it have, with a view to increasing technical knowledge and the maximum use of agricultural implements, visited foreign countries, especially the United States of America, since 1st January, 1950; with what results; and at what cost.
Mr. T. WilliamsSince 1st January, 1950, 124 technical officers of my Department and associated bodies have made 147 visits abroad: 23 of these were to the United States of America. The remainder of the information for which the hon. Member asks is not readily available and could not be obtained without a great deal of labour which I do not think would be justified.
§ Sir W. SmithersIn view of the necessity for producing all the food possible in this country, will the right hon. Gentleman continue his efforts and make the results of that work as widely known as possible through the National Farmers' Union?
