HC Deb 09 November 1950 vol 480 c1120
61. Lieut.-Colonel Bromley-Davenport

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he is aware of the loss of agricultural land and buildings through subsidence caused by brine pumping in the Knutsford area and in Cheshire generally; and what action he proposes to take to deal with this matter.

Mr. G. Brown

My right hon. Friend is aware of the position and is in close touch with my right hon. Friend the Minister of Town and Country Planning. New methods of pumping have been developed and it is hoped that they will materially assist in reducing future subsidence in some areas, but we can see no quick and easy solution to this problem.
