HC Deb 24 May 1950 vol 475 cc2029-30
2. Air-Commodore Harvey

asked the Secretary of State for Air what progress has been made in the manning and re-equipment of Fighter Command Fighter Squadrons in bringing them up to a two flight basis.

Mr. A. Henderson

By the middle of this year about three quarters of the Regular day fighter squadrons of Fighter Command should be at doubled strength. I now hope that the process will be complete by December and not by March, 1951, as I stated in the course of the Air Estimates Debate.

Air-Commodore Harvey

While gratified to hear what the right hon. and learned Gentleman says, may I ask if he can indicate when the Royal Auxiliary Air Force squadrons within Fighter Command will also expand to a two-flight basis?

Mr. Henderson

No, Sir. Not without notice.
