HC Deb 22 May 1950 vol 475 c1642
45. Mr. Clunie

asked the Prime Minister, in view of the recent suspension of an employee at Rosyth Dockyard because he was known to be a member of the Communist Party, how far such action is to be extended to other employees who are members of this body; and if he will take into account that, as in the recent case, wage earners may be deprived of their jobs because of their political opinions.

The Prime Minister (Mr. Attlee)

The policy is to move all such persons from employment in connection with work the nature of which is vital to the security of the State. Every effort is made to provide alternative employment in the Civil Service.
