HC Deb 16 May 1950 vol 475 c1013
77. Sir H. Williams

asked the President of the Board of Trade what revenue has been received by the British Export Trade Research Organisation in respect of commissions executed; and what is the amount so far subscribed by industry and the balance that industry has to pay.

Mr. Bottomley

I am informed that, since the inception of the British Export Trade Research Organisation in May, 1945, the revenue received in respect of commissions executed has been a little over £85,000 and that the amounts subscribed by industry have been approximately £237,000. The corresponding sums for the three years period to 31st March, 1950, covered by the Board of Trade grants-in-aid were approximately £80,000 and £120,000 respectively. As the industrial subscriptions were sufficient to meet one half of the annual deficiencies referred to in my reply to the hon. Member on 4th May, there is no balance outstanding from industry.
