HC Deb 16 May 1950 vol 475 c992
28. Mr. J. H. Hare

asked the Minister of Town and Country Planning how many applications have been received for exemption from development charge for land ripe for development; and how many of these applications have so far been disposed of.

Mr. Dalton

Approximately 28,000 and 20,500 respectively.

Mr. Hare

When does the right hon. Gentleman hope that the balance will be dealt with? Is he aware that this delay is causing considerable inconvenience in the proper development of land throughout the country?

Mr. Dalton

We get on as fast as we can. The figures quoted show we have dealt with nearly three-quarters of the total claims. In many other cases we are waiting for further information. Some of the owners are dead, which leads to delay.
