§ 5. Lieut.-Colonel Liptonasked the Minister of Works when he will vacate the premises at Lambeth Town Hall now used by the local food office.
§ Mr. StokesA lease has been taken for the Lambeth Food Office of part of a war damaged building which is being reconstructed by the owner. The amount of reconstruction needed is considerable, but the owner hopes to have the building ready for occupation by the end of 1951.
§ Lieut.-Colonel LiptonIs the Minister aware that his Department, as a temporary war-time measure, will be depriving Lambeth Council of their only public hall for something like seven years since the war? Now that he has got a job in Lambeth, will he have a look at the matter on the spot?
§ Mr. StokesYes, Sir, I shall be delighted to do that. Of course, my hon. and gallant Friend will recognise that there are still a great many places requisitioned and occupied. We shall certainly do our best to release them as soon as possible.
