HC Deb 26 July 1950 vol 478 c431
9. Mr. Erroll

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Civil Aviation the number of people employed by his Department who are not working on or about aerodromes.

Mr. Beswick

The number of people employed by the Ministry on work not directly connected with the provision and operation of aerodromes and other ground facilities in the United Kingdom was 1,120 on 1st July.

Mr. Erroll

Will the Parliamentary Secretary carefully investigate these numbers to see whether they could be reduced, in view of the valuable accommodation they are taking up?

Mr. Beswick

We would, of course, obviously like to get this number down if possible, but, looking through the lists of things that they have to do, I see no evidence that we are over-staffed.
