HC Deb 26 July 1950 vol 478 c444
71. Mr. G. Longden

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Civil Aviation how many hours were flown by his Department's aircraft in 1949.

Mr. Beswick

Eight thousand, three hundred and fifty hours, 10 minutes.

Mr. Longden

Is the Minister satisfied that this work could not have been done more economically by civil charter aircraft?

Mr. Beswick

No, Sir, not by charter aircraft, although it is conceivable that it will be more economically done when we have more machines of an appropriate kind.
