Wardasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Civil Aviation what is the total number of staff employed in the management and operation of airfields operated by his Department; what is the number of aircraft movements at London and Northolt, per employee; and what is the total number of movements, per employee, at all other aerodromes managed by his Department.
§ Mr. BeswickThe total number of staff employed at aerodromes in management and operation was 4,090 on 1st July, 1950. The approximate numbers of aircraft movements per employee during the 12 months period to 30th June, 1950, was 45.2 at London Airport, 87.5 at Northolt Airport and 135.6 at all other aerodromes operated by my Department.
§ Mr. WardIs the Minister satisfied that these figures are economical as compared with other airlines such as K.L.M.?
