HC Deb 26 July 1950 vol 478 cc437-8
22. Mr. Perkins

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Civil Aviation whether he will set up an independent accident investigation body.

Mr. Beswick

No, Sir.

Mr. Perkins

Does the Parliamentary Secretary not realise that the present system is being condemned on all sides by everyone connected with air transport; and can he not take steps to set up some kind of independent investigation?

Mr. Beswick

As the hon. Gentleman knows, we are going to have discussions with Members of the Opposition on this point, and I should have thought it would be quite wrong to give a decision before those discussions start.
