HC Deb 12 July 1950 vol 477 c1331
12. Brigadier Peto

asked the Postmaster-General the number of applications for a telephone service which have been received by his Department at Taunton during the 12 months to a convenient date; how many have received this service during that period; and the number of applicants on the waiting list at the present time.

Mr. Ness Edwards

The Taunton telephone area covers 108 exchanges. Applications numbered 2,477 in the 12 months ended 30th June, and the number met was 2,358. There are 4,212 outstanding.

Brigadier Peto

Has the right hon. Gentleman issued any instructions about priorities? If not, will he do so, giving priority to businessmen and agriculture?

Mr. Ness Edwards

They have the first priority.
