HC Deb 12 July 1950 vol 477 c1344
44. Mr. John Grimston

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he is yet able to say when the report on the Volta River Hydro-Electric and Irrigation Scheme in the Gold Coast will be presented.

Mr. Cook

The Gold Coast Government expects to receive an interim report very shortly, but I cannot yet say precisely when the final report will be received.

Mr. Grimston

Is the Minister aware that four months ago he informed me that he would hurry this report? Is he also aware that the scheme has been investigated for three years already and that it is high time we got on to providing an aluminium producing industry in Africa?

Mr. Cook

There are actually two investigations proceeding.
