HC Deb 10 July 1950 vol 477 c944
43. Mr. Hastings

asked the Minister of Food if he will adopt the interim standard for ice cream proposed by the Food Standards Committee; and state how it will be enforced.

Mr. Webb

I was glad to receive this recommendation which I am considering. In the meantime, the usual interval of 28 days is being allowed for representations from interested parties. If a standard is adopted for ice cream, it will be enforced, like other food standards, by food and drugs authorities in England and Wales, and by the local authorities in Scotland.

Mr. Hastings

May I be assured by my right hon. Friend that if these standards are adopted, they will be minimum standards?

Mr. Webb

If they are, they will be minimum standards; I am quite sure about that.
