HC Deb 05 July 1950 vol 477 c467
36. Mr. Parker

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies when the local development corporation is to be set up in British Honduras to carry out the proposals set out in the Evans Report.

Mr. J. Griffiths

It is unlikely that a development corporation of the kind proposed by the Evans Commission will be set up in British Honduras, but the Governor has appointed a local development board to supervise overall development.

Mr. Parker

Is there not something to be said for some kind of corporation in which Governments like that of Barbados can take some share in the development work?

Mr. Griffiths

That has been very carefully considered, and I have answered a Question about it before. The Governor thinks that the development board is the best instrument for the time being.
