HC Deb 14 December 1950 vol 482 c1326
19. Squadron Leader Burden

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he will ensure that utility wool cloth made partly from fibre and any garments made therefrom are clearly marked with the composition of the cloth.

Mr. H. Wilson

No, Sir. It has long been customary to make cloths consisting of a mixture of wool and other fibres, and woollen cloths of this kind have been permitted under the utility scheme from its inception. So far as I am aware, the existing regulations about the marking and description of such cloths have proved satisfactory, and I see no reason for changing them.

Squadron Leader Burden

Is not the Minister aware that in the House last night his hon. Friend the Parliamentary Secretary stated that he would look into this question because he realised that something should he done about it, and is it not about time that the Minister let his right hand know what his left hand is going to do?

Mr. Wilson

No, Sir. On the contrary, I think that the answer I have given shows the speed with which my hon. Friend's undertaking has been implemented.
