asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many foreign holders of British Council studentships in this country have been expelled on account of subversive activities or have disappeared during the period of their studentships.

The inquiries which I have made have not revealed any case in which a person holding a British Council studentship has been deported or has disappeared. If the hon. Member will give me particulars of any case that he has in mind I will make further inquiries.
