HC Deb 12 December 1950 vol 482 c960
14. Mr. Clunie

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will give the incidence rates of tuberculosis in Scotland for the years 1947–48–49 and indicate the tendency of this disease.

Miss Herbison

With permission, I will circulate in the OFFICIAL REPORT the figures for which the hon. Member asks. Notifications of respiratory tuberculosis have been rising since 1939, but I expect the total for 1950 to show a slight fall. Notifications of non-respiratory tuberculosis have been falling since 1944.

Following are the figures:

TUBERCULOSIS NOTIFICATIONS IN SCOTLAND
PER 100,000 POPULATION
Year Respiratory Non-Respiratory
1947 155 42
1948 159 36
1949 167 32
