HC Deb 25 April 1950 vol 474 c766
28. Mr. Carmichael

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what progress he is making with the returning officers in Scotland for a more efficient and expeditious organisation being evolved for conducting the ballot arrangements for future Parliamentary elections; and if he will, before making any decision, arrange to meet Scottish Members of Parliament, representative of all parties, and consider any suggestions which may be presented at such a meeting.

Mr. McNeil

Arrangements have been made for matters relating to the conduct of elections to be discussed further with the returning officers on 22nd May. If Scottish Members wish that I should meet them in this connection, I shall, of course, be at their disposal.

Mr. Carmichael

Will my right hon. Friend take responsibility for convening the meeting through the usual channels?

Mr. McNeil

Certainly.
