HC Deb 25 April 1950 vol 474 c766
26. Sir D. Robertson

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland why the two sons of Mr. and Mrs. J. MacRae of Castle Dhu, Erribol, by Tongue, Sutherland, have been deprived of education since May, 1949; and why the letter which the parents then addressed to the director of education requesting education for the children has not been acknowledged or replied to.

Mr. McNeil

I am informed that Mr. and Mrs. MacRae refused the transport offered to enable their sons to attend the nearest school some 12 miles away and have declined to allow a teacher to instruct the boys in their own home. I am also informed that the education offices have not left unattended any letter received from the parents.
