HC Deb 25 April 1950 vol 474 c752
7. Mr. Leslie Hale

asked the Minister of Labour the number of persons now registered as disabled under parts 1 and 2, respectively, on the disabled persons' register for the county borough of Oldham and the Urban District of Chadderton, respectively.

The Minister of Labour (Mr. Isaacs)

The number of registered disabled persons recorded as unemployed at Oldham employment exchange on 20th March was 200, of whom 45 were classified as unlikely to obtain employment other than under sheltered conditions. The corresponding figures for Chadderton were 40 and 11 respectively.

Mr. Hale

While congratulating the hon. Gentleman on the very great improvement in the figures, may I ask whether he will consider extending the Salford facilities to Oldham?

Mr. Isaacs

I will look into the matter and let my hon. Friend know.
