8 and 13. Brigadier Clarkeasked the Minister of Transport (1) when a decision on the future width of Commercial Road, Portsmouth, may be expected, as this is holding up the planning of the city;
§ (2) if he will ensure that Portsmouth is given an adequate grant for the widening of Commercial Road.
§ Mr. BarnesMy views as to the future width of Commercial Road were conveyed to the Portsmouth Corporation on 13th April. I am not yet in a position to approve any widening of this road for the purpose of grant, but when I can do so the grant will be at the rate appropriate to Class I roads.
