§ 73. Mr. Douglas Houghtonasked the Minister of Health whether an up-to-date edition of the pamphlet entitled "Rent Control in England and Wales," Command Paper No. 133, published in 1946, can now be issued.
§ Mr. BevanThe only new rent control legislation passed since the publication of pamphlet C.133 is the Landlord and Tenant (Rent Control) Act, 1949, on which an explanatory memorandum F.R.2A, of which I am sending my hon. Friend a copy, has been printed and is available to the public at the offices of local authorities and rent tribunals. There is no need, therefore, for the revision of C.133.
§ Mr. HoughtonIs my right hon. Friend aware of several decisions in the Court of Appeal since 1946, particularly with reference to what constitutes a separate dwelling? In view of that, does he not think that some more up to date guidance should be given in this publication about the application of the Rent Acts in cases of that kind?
§ Mr. BevanI believe, if my memory serves me correctly, that when we had the Landlord and Tenant Bill before the House we put certain decisions of the court right in that respect, or, rather, reverted to what we hoped was the original law. I will look at the point raised by my hon. Friend, to see whether any revision is necessary.
