HC Deb 26 October 1949 vol 468 c1306
11. Mr. Platts-Mills

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he is now in a position to make a statement on the negotiations with the United States Government for the establishment of guided-missile checking stations in the Bahamas.

Mr. Creech Jones

I cannot add to the replies given to the hon. Member on 25th May, and 20th July.

Mr. Platts-Mills

As these discussions about guided-missile bases have been going on since the spring of 1948, would it not be the simplest thing if we abandoned them; and as it is quite obvious that if we ever allow war to start all the missiles, guided or unguided, will land in Britain, is it not time we stopped those who want to start a war?

Mr. Creech Jones

That is another matter.
