§ 32. Sir Ian Fraserasked the Minister of Health to what extent the ban on private building applies to schemes for the building of memorial and other houses for disabled ex-Service people by the British Legion and other ex-Service and regimental societies or similar building associations.
§ Mr. BevanProposals for agreements between local authorities and housing associations which provide for a payment of Exchequer subsidy do not require licences, and are unaffected by the temporary suspension of licences. I should be ready to look sympathetically at any other individual proposals from societies of the kind to which the hon. Member refers, which need a licence and on which a decision may be required pending the further instructions which I shall shortly be issuing in regard to the erection of houses under licence.
§ Sir I. FraserDoes the Minister's reply suggest that the further instructions may impose some limit?
§ Mr. BevanNo, I have said that, if any of these societies want to apply for a licence to erect houses in the way the hon. Member has suggested, I should be happy to look into the matter.
