HC Deb 17 November 1949 vol 469 c2174
16. Brigadier Rayner

asked the Minister of Health when he intends to arrange for an X-ray extension and outpatients department to be provided at the South Hams Cottage Hospital, Kingsbridge.

Mr. Bevan

I understand that the regional hospital board do not consider that this project should have priority compared with other and more essential work at the present time.

Brigadier Rayner

Does the Minister realise that the money for the X-ray extension and outpatients department has been provided by private subscription, and that they were about to be built before the National Health Service Bill was introduced, and, in consequence, his Department sequestered the money and nothing has been heard of either?

Mr. Bevan

I am advised by the regional hospital board, who, I am quite sure know as much about this matter as the hon. and gallant Member.
