HC Deb 17 November 1949 vol 469 cc2165-6
2. Mr. Goronwy Roberts

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department why there is no full-time officer in charge of the After Care Service (Approved Schools), in the area covering Caernarvonshire, Anglesey, Merioneth, Montgomery and parts of Denbighshire and Cardigan.

Mr. Ede

Approved school welfare officers are employed only in the more populous areas. In areas such as North and Central Wales more effective supervision can be exercised by local welfare agents acting under arrangements made by the school managers.
