HC Deb 03 November 1949 vol 469 cc584-5
43. Mr. Bramall

asked the Minister of Health if he is aware of the marked discrepancies in the periods of delay in supplying glasses between different firms of opticians; and if he will take steps to ensure that the work is spread more evenly and the longest periods of delay thus eliminated.

Mr. Bevan

I am aware that there are discrepancies and I am in consultation with the industry about the problem.

Mr. Bramall

Will my right hon. Friend press on with the solution of this problem in view of the fact that there are differences as wide as nine months and four weeks, and that undoubtedly many firms are taking orders with which they are quite incapable of dealing?
