52. Mr. Vanex asked the Minister of Agriculture what is the policy of the Land Commission for the sale of individual fields or isolated parcels of agricultural land in their possession to the owners of adjoining holdings where such land could be most economically farmed as part of such holdings.
Mr. T. WilliamsUnder Section 90 of the Agriculture Act, 1947, the power to sell land is vested in the Minister and not in the Agricultural Land Commission. I am always prepared to consider the sale of any land where I am satisfied that such action would be expedient in the interests of agricultural efficiency.
