HC Deb 03 November 1949 vol 469 cc590-1
51. Mr. Skeffington-Lodge

asked the Minister of Agriculture to what extent the Colorado beetle has been kept in check during this year; and how its recorded appearances compare with the same period for 1948.

Mr. T. Williams

During the past season no breeding colonies of Colorado beetle have been discovered in this country, whereas there were 11 such occurrences in 1948. Thirty-six single beetles have been found in this country, mainy with imported produce, and 17 on ships, compared with 74 and 278, respectively, in 1948.
