asked the Minister of Food whether he will now de-ration butter, and allow it to find its own price.

Why not?

Dr. Summerskill

Because if we followed the advice of the hon. Gentleman butter would cost 3s. per pound, and there are a lot of people who cannot afford that price.

Mr. Scollan

Would not the yielding to this campaign for de-rationing butter in all probability lead to the same results that have followed the de-rationing of confectionery?
